Cougar Family:

It is indeed my pleasure, to welcome each of you to the 2019-2020 school year. This school year will certainly present perhaps some of our most challenging opportunities. However, I believe, with absolute conviction, we are abundantly prepared to meet the challenge and exceed expectations. We will achieve our goal through operating with a high level of professionalism, establishing and following an efficient system of procedures and processes, implementing a high level of academic standards, and working with our students and parents with an abundance of patience and compassion.
Parents, as we enter the school year, please support our mission by having conversations with our students about the importance of their education and the need to work cooperatively with the faculty and staff to ensure their success. It is important that students understand their responsibilities in the learning process. Students must be prompt, prepared, polite and productive to take full advantage of their learning opportunities. In order to assist our students with fulfilling their obligations, every student will be assigned a locker to securely store their cell phones and backpacks during the school day. Students will not be permitted to bring cell phones and backpacks into the classrooms, even if the cell phones are completely disabled. There is no fee for locker usage. Finally, being dressed within the school uniform dress code is Clayton County School Board Policy, and students are expected to adhere to it unless LMS administration has directly communicated an exception. As of now, there are no such exceptions. Tops must be purple, white, yellow/gold, gray or black. Bottoms must be khaki (tan to brown), navy or black. Shorts, skirts and dresses can be no higher than two inches above the knee. Please review the Parent/Student handbook with your student for more detailed information about the uniform dress code and all other policies, procedures and processes. The school day is 8:45-3:45.
We will receive students into the building at 8:30. We will have our beginning of the year Meet and Greet on August 1st at 3:00 PM. Our annual Open House will be on September 12th at 5:00 PM. Again, I am excited about your return and look forward to personally greeting each of you! Our best days are ahead, and we will go forth on this journey together with unity.
